China’s future energy demand to rely on domestic supply

Zhang Guobao, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) revealed on Thursday that there is a huge potential for domestic energy supply from the perspective of future development, and thus China can meet its future energy demand mainly through its domestic supply.

Zhang indicated that as a developing country, the basic principle for energy development in China is to develop the domestic front as the foundation, to incorporate priority in energy-saving and efficiency in usage as the primary responsibilities in the energy policy, and to reduce energy consumption through adjusting the industrial structure and enforcing energy-saving.
