China April Oil Demand Growth Slows, Pricing Hurts

China’s apparent oil demand growth slowed to 2.3 percent in April as suppressed domestic power and fuel prices curbed imports and refiners ran down product inventories, data showed on Thursday.

Overall demand appeared to pick up in April versus March, in line with higher second-quarter seasonal consumption due to higher use in farming and transportation, but the pace of annual growth slowed from the estimated 7.3 percent rise in March, Reuters calculations showed.
