Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov accused Moscow in an interview published Friday of hoarding oil and tax revenue needed to rebuild the war-shattered republic.
‘Everything is ruined here, and the funds aren’t being spread around. The federal centre takes our income. Oil, taxes — they take them both, and tell us: ‘Okay, build’,’ Kadyrov told daily newspaper Izvestia.
The 30-year-old regional leader, who was appointed to his post by President Vladimir Putin in February, lashed out at state-run oil giant Rosneft for registering its Chechen subsidiary in Moscow, robbing Chechnya of tax revenue.
‘For the over 2 mln tonnes of oil being extracted here, we get less than 500 mln rubles — 3 bln rubles go to the Moscow budget, and the federal centre gets 6 bln,’ he said.
