Propaganda at its worst.

New, conventional energy sources are under development. That means infrastructure has to be built and paid for. These are front end costs that have been present for all oil field development since the first well. Because we are experiencing these costs developing these immense new finds doesn’t make the investment any less profitable. We know that because the investments are being made in spite of peak politics.

Wind and solar on the other hand require vast gov subsidies to exist. They are about ten times more expensive (EROI anybody?) than conventional resources. These are not front end costs. They result from the inherent inefficiencies of these power generating methods that have been around a lot longer than conventional resources in wide use today.

If conventional sources of energy are becoming more and more expensive to develop yet investment in alternative energy sources has surpassed fossil fuel development you know two things:

1) Alternative sources are hugely expensive
2) Governemtn subsidises must be mind boggling. Do the figures include the billions and billions wasted on the sylindra type boongoggles?
