The Canadian government is winning praise for new federal budget commitments to energy-efficient building and renewable energy projects. Legislators hope the financial investment will help lower domestic greenhouse gas emissions, enabling Canada to meet its Kyoto Treaty requirements.
“There has been a lot of talk up until now about meeting our Kyoto obligations but this budget contains a serious commitment in terms of dollars and that is very positive”, said Alex Zimmerman, president of the Canada Green Building Council.
