Business sector backs biofuel bill

Big business has asked Congress for the immediate passage of the law mandating the blending of coconut oil-based fuel with diesel, and alcohol from plants with gasoline, for all types of motor fuels sold in the country.

In a position paper submitted to the Senate committee on energy, Federation of Philippine Industries president Jesus Arranza said his group supports the proposed Biofuels Act, which is a “win-win solution” for the people, environment, motorists, farmers, as well as fuel makers and distributors.
