The Balkans are headed for an electricity shortage of 7,000mWh by 2010 if consumption in the region increases by 3.7% annually country-by-country, shows a forecast of Bulgaria’s national power grid operator NETC.
Bulgaria’s industrial consumption will rise by no more than 3-3.8% by 2009 while household consumption will decline on higher tariffs and improved energy efficiency.
One unit of thermal power plant (TPP) Bobov Dol will be unplugged in 2007 while units 3 and 4 of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant (NPP) will be retired in late 2006.
