Breaking News: Ukraine gas pipeline hit by blast

A blast has destroyed a section of one of the main gas pipelines in Ukraine exporting Russian gas to Europe, Ukraine’s emergencies ministry says.

It says 30m (90ft) of the Urenhoi-Pomary-Uzhhorod pipeline were damaged by the explosion.

No injuries were reported in the blast in the Kiev region.

There was no immediate information on the effect of the incident on gas deliveries to the European Union, the biggest gas market for Russia.
