BP hit back yesterday at the doom-mongers predicting the end of the age of oil. It said that far from running out of black gold we are finding new supplies to replace all we use, despite soaring energy demands from around the world. ‘Proved reserves of oil, gas and coal remain more than adequate to meet the world’s growing needs,’ said the oil giant’s chief economist, Peter Davies. ‘The world does not face a shortage of hydrocarbon resources.’
