Bozeman inventor markets car that uses solar charged batteries

The Solar Bug, a tiny car powered by batteries that can be recharged by solar panels on the roof, drives like a four-wheeler with moxie.

Imagine sitting on a motorcycle seat, perhaps with a passenger behind, and steering an ATV chassis to the store or to work and never, ever, having to pay for gas.

Bozeman inventor and builder Steve Titus made his first two sales in June and has others pending for the electric car he started designing in 1991 and driving in 2003. Now American demand for electric vehicles is exploding and Titus hopes to ride that wave.

“The last time I looked, they were at the $100 million mark two or three years ago. Now they’re at $2 billion to $5 billion,” Titus said.
