What may be the world’s first hydrogen-powered fuel cell locomotive is being built in Topeka, promising a reduction in use of imported oil and emission carbon dioxide that pollutes the atmosphere.
The skeleton of the new machine was on display Wednesday in the BNSF Railway Co. shops in Topeka. Developers hope to have the first machine ready for service in June.
