Carolyn Baker and Derrick Jensen two folks I disagree with on many things, although I did find this quote from Jensen to be quite profound.

“Another way to talk about that is if your experience is that your food comes from the grocery store and your water comes from the tap, you’ll defend to the death the system that brings those to you because your life depends on it. If, on the other hand, your food comes from a landbase and your water comes from a river, then you’ll defend to the death that landbase and that river, because your life depends on them.”

A little deep for a guy that spent the day digging compost, manure, lime, more compost, sand, and a little NPK into a raised bed;; maybe 1000 shovel strokes. Tomorrow I’ll blend it with the electric tiller and set it to cook for a couple of weeks before I plant carrots and beets….

…..did someone mention where food comes from?

Apneaman, perhaps you confuse me with someone else on here? ‘New Age’ is a 70s name for old beliefs dug out of the past. Nothing new. A few people(Shirley MacLaine,etc)got rich and famous for resurrecting it in a time of American stress(well into the Vietnam War)but it doesn’t change reality.

I expect the something similar to resurface now, if it has not already. Americans have a difficult time facing reality. They are like so many spoiled children, sheltered from the real world by their community and suddenly exposed to the dark side of reality. Panic/denial/avoidance ensues.
