Benz to make natural-gas vehicles in Thailand

Mercedes-Benz plans to use Thailand as its second production base for cars fuelled by natural gas, after its home base in Germany, citing confidence in government policy to support alternative fuel utilisation.

The carmaker yesterday delivered a prototype hybrid car, the E200 NGT from Germany, to Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra via Energy Minister Viset Choopiban for a one-year trial. The car’s engine can run on both gasoline and NGV (natural gas for vehicles).
