The UK’s biggest coal producer signalled a brighter future yesterday after it returned to profitability and eyed benefits from the UK’s energy review. UK Coal, which owns the former assets of British Coal, is hopeful the Government will recognise the importance of domestic coal in tackling concerns over security of supply and price stability.
Coal provides about seven per cent of the country’s energy needs for electricity generation.
