AMSTERDAM – Most Austrian glaciers will have disappeared by the end of the century. That is formulated in a report of the environmental group Austrian Alpine Association that was published last Friday.
The Austrian glaciers are shrinking ten to fifteen meters a year. That is twice as fast as ten years ago. If the ice keeps melting at the current pace, then most of the current 925 glaciers will be gone completely by the end of this century.
