Australia’s Santos Expands into Kyrgyz Republic

Australian oil and gas producer Santos Ltd. (STOSY) said Friday it has expanded its exploration interests into the Kyrgyz Republic in central Asia.

Under a a conditional agreement with Caspian Oil & Gas Ltd. (CIG.AU), Santos will have an 80% interest in ten exploration licenses in the republic, Santos said in a statement.

“This is another significant step for Santos as it provides a measured entry into an area which we believe is highly prospective for oil and gas,” Santos Managing Director John Ellice-Flint said.
