Asia the new focus for energy policy

The focus of international energy policy in terms of security of supply and greenhouse gas emissions must switch to the Asian region, federal Resources Minister Ian Macfarlane said yesterday.

Speaking on the eve of an International Energy Agency seminar in Sydney on the future energy requirements of China and India, Mr Macfarlane said the days of the IEA being Euro-centric were close to ending.
