Argentina vows to clear roadblocks amid farm row

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) – Argentine truckers protesting a drawn-out conflict between the government and farmers continued to block roads on Friday, paralyzing cargo traffic and increasing the threat of fuel and food shortages.

Trucks carrying grains, milk, food and other goods sat parked on highways as truckers demanded an end to a three-month farm dispute that they say has drastically reduced their work.

The roadblocks have proved a new twist in Argentina’s farm row.

Farmers angry over a tax hike on soy exports ended their latest strike this week. But some still refuse to send their goods to markets, and the truckers want both sides to reach a definitive deal to end the conflict.
