It’s not mankind’s inability to solve the problems we helped create, it’s his desire to even fight them that is lacking.

A friend of mine had a great phrase:
    “shoveling against the tide”.

Is there any truth to his claim that they are using depleted uranium in fracking operations?

I do know how desperate I’ll become in the future; I don’t understand how this successful man could end up living the end of his life living in a commune in the wilderness, residing in a teepee? I don’t expect to go that far down.

    Repent,

None of us may EXPECT to ‘go down that far’, but considering the tiny little fact that we aren’t in control here. Mother Nature may very well take us down further than living in teepees, in communes in the wilderness.

Ruppert has spent a great deal of energy fighting the ‘establishment’ in favour of Mother Nature, and this is his result. Could this be a foreshadowing of bigger things to come?

Ruppert tried to live up to his ideals and maintain an honorable path. The fact that he is choosing to live a lower energy life with few possessions is merely a continuation of his quest.

He already rang the alarm bells for years warning people. Time for some peace in life.

Dogs are stupid, annoying animals. That aside, I always enjoy a good Ruppert talk.

action, dogs are loyal and will ‘love’ you for as long as it lives. You cannot say that about humans. I prefer cats myself, as they are still independent even after thousands of generations of breeding and only tolerate humans.

As for Ruppert, He is probably correct in our final destination, IF we are lucky.

It is rubbish to claim that the automobile was a ‘technofix’ for piles of horse shit. And I would like to have some confirmation about the depleted uranium-with-fracking claims.

That said, he is correct about his warnings against the emerging policestate and the shredding of the Constitution, but wants to stay clear of certain ‘rightwing conspiracy theories’. Not that Ruppert is afraid of these theories himself. Ruppert is a good speaker, his exposee about the 9/11 inside job for instance was impressive at the time, although he puts the blame entirely on Cheney, suffering from the typical leftist blindness concerning who is really in charge in America. His understanding of the history of the 20th century does not go beyond that of an average television watcher. He is unable therefor to link the current developments in the US with that history and similar developments in the USSR. I also think he misreads OWS, that had little to do with ‘increased awareness’, but everything with deteriorating economic conditions for the average American.

That said, he is right about many things and the unsustainability of the old ways of society, growth, technofixes for everything. But the time has passed that I swallow every collapsenik story as presented by violin players or policeman turned prophet turned hippy at face value, is gone. I am not interested in becoming a dropout but more interested in a down-to-earth approach of the problems we are facing, and lightweight technology is not a dirty word.

What are btw these red spots in Ruppert’s face? He looks ill.

    ??????

What’s so difficult to understand, Greg?

IT, solar panels, wind turbines, yes.

Unrestricted use of cars, planes, globalism, endless economic growth no.

Lightweight ‘electro-photonic’ technology yes, fossil fuel no.

Arthur: “..suffering from the typical leftist blindness”

You apparently do not know that much about the guy. He has supported Ron Paul in the past and is far from being a liberal. Anyways, I agree with Greg T when he puts ?????

It’s cool not to believe every little thing someone says but how can you not see that once we started to use “light” technology that involves oil… your precious solar, IT, electric-photo shit etc IS the day we ttook off on the roller coaster ride we now realize we have no control over !

  12. action on Sun, 2nd Feb 2014 2:59 pm

Yeah, those bags that hang beneath a horse’s butt are the technofix for piles of shit in the streets.

  13. J-Gav on Sun, 2nd Feb 2014 4:39 pm

I agree with Ruppert on a lot of things but I’m not quite as down on rationalism or technology as he has become. Note that I have no trouble with idea that the super-techno-fix-for-all-the world’s-problems mindset is generally an expensive, deluded distraction. But basic rationality remains a value for me (it doesn’t have to be called “Cartesian,” common-sense often does the job.) I mean why not, in the name of thwarting those sorry-assed, boring rationality freaks, put your left shoe on your right foot and vice versa? That would be stickin’ it to ’em, wouldn’t it? As for technology, what is above called “light” tech used to be called “appropriate tech” back in the 70s. Things people can do if they have some know-how, some metal, a hammer, an anvil, some ham radio equipment, some mechanical knowledge of how flowing water can be used, etc. Inventiveness with scrap, as opposed to throwing billions at crap that will never be scaled up … Still, though readers here are aware I’m no believer in miracle breakthroughs, I can’t entirely discount certain advances that could put off the coming energy/climate crunch for another decade or three. For example, improvements in hydrogen production technologies and storage capacity at lower pressures are taking place practically monthly. The infrastructure build-out cost has also been reduced by achieving the ability to put a 20% mix of hydrogen through existing natgas pipes. Make no mistake – I see no silver bullets! But there may yet be some ideas out there capable of at least postponing those monster-nasty days of reckoning which seem baked into the 21st century pie.
