‘Alternate Energy’ Increasingly Mainstream

MSNBC.com – The idea that a profit can be made on solar, wind, biofuel, ethanol and other alternatives to oil and natural gas have Silicon Valley venture capital firms betting record amounts of money on new energy technologies.

And they would prefer people stop calling it “alternative energy.”

“We should understand … that this is a mainstream business,” says Ron Pernick, co-founder of Clean Edge Inc., a research and consulting firm that helps investors find emerging energy markets to invest in.
