$3 gas may be coming back

Experts say California’s in for a price increase because of rising crude costs, declining supply and time of year.

Gas prices are creeping up and are nowhere near the top, experts said Monday.

“The next month or so, you can expect prices to go up as you head into the spring driving season,” said analyst Mary Welge, an editor at Oil Price Information Service. “In California, you’re probably going to be up in the $3 neighborhood for sure.”

Even $3.25 is possible, she added.

In the Los Angeles/Long Beach area, the average price for a gallon of regular is a penny less than what it was a month ago, according to the Auto Club of Southern California. But prices are rising fast.
