Dorsch states that since control of global oil reserves has steadily passed from private companies to national oil companies and now roughly 77% of the world’s 1.15 trillion barrels of proven reserves is in the hands of the national companies which he calls the “Axis of Oil.” These countries, which include Russia, Iran, and Venezuela, pump one-fifth of global oil output.
