My question is, what makes this dip any different than the ones in the past? You only have to go back to March to find a lower value. There are economic problems abound, no doubt, but I just can't tell where the carry-trade ranks.

If you remember last Sunday and Monday Asian markets were up because they believed they decoupled from the turbulance of the US credit contraction nightmare...well that changed mid week with asian markets tanking...then Nikkei tanked last Friday... 450ish...

With the yen in 117 and falling ...things could get very interesting very quickly...

We will know soon enough.

Dollar fast approaching the so called magic index number of 80. It always convincingly bounced off this number. And, yes, the Yen is getting roached. Now down to 117.18.

I doubt tonight is the night. People are waiting on news this week, and the Europeans are not yet in play. You probably need a fistful of large prominent non-property-related corporations run into fatal cashflow problems for any serious unwinding to take place.
