Honestly, I give my plan a 6 out of 10 and that's based on a 2011-2012 collapse. Most of my plans focus around cattle ranching on the family ranch or (god forbid) someone else's spread. I'm still working my way out of debt, taking Ag classes, getting fit. Can't say I have purchased a good battle rifle yet, but realisticly my plans focus on tools, knowledge, and learning/sharing info here.

I question the need for a battle rifle.

As far as weapons go buying a nice hunting rifle and shotgun should be all any one needs.
A weapon like an AK-47 or ar-15 won't be all that useful down the road.

If comes down to protecting your life and property a close range weapon is what will likely be used. I doubt any of us will ever be in gun battles that are measured in yards instead of feet.

I rank arming myself low on the things to do list for PO.

If it turns out that an ak-47 is a critical post PO tool then we are fubar.

You use false hollywood to make a false statement about trusting no one?

Dude, this is the collapse of the ages, the historical first, the global tsunami of dieoff that will blot out "The Black Plague" into utter insignificance... as if the plague was a sneeze.

And you are telling us like a quack doctor to hold closely the truth of war over the reliance on networks.

I don't know who your friends are, what your extended family looks like, what your community looks like. And I don't want to know.

The "riddle of steel" is a clown riddle, like your avatar. A joke. A juvenile's position. Are you 13?

My plan? My best educated guess is that we already hit PO in 2005, and we will see a plateau to about 2010 and 2-5% decline afterwards. SHTF post 2010, although we are currently seeing the start of it.

1) Pay off any and all student loans in 2-3 years

2) Get my own property out in a secluded location with arable land and a source of drinking water

3) Get my property running on renewable energy, whether the dwelling is a trailer, RV, large teepee, or green design residence. Planned is a large home-built wind turbine with 25 foot diamter blade and 80 foot tower height, 1 kW solar array, and a diesel genset as backup. These will provide electricity and charge a set of electric automobiles and electric farm equipment(eg. tractors)

4) Amass a collection of weapons for home defense

5) Build an electric sports car, biodiesel/electric plug-in hybrid truck armed and armored to high hell, and biodiesel dunebuggy with aerodynamic body cover and 50-gallon diesel tank. The sports car will be used for recreation and any transport that doesn't require the utility of a pickup or long range, the truck used for hauling shit, and the either the truck or the dune-buggy used for a long distance bugout if any masses storm the property or if some government asshole wants my property and they send in men with guns to arrest me and take it. The dune buggy will be specially tailored for smuggling contraband, built for speed, low-maintenance, fuel efficiency, long range(nearly coast to coast on one tank), and offroad capability, and will involve use of a 300+ horsepower V8 diesel in a vehicle that weighs under 2,000 pounds and has < .35 drag coefficient and < 15 square foot frontal area(easy 50+ mpg, 0-60 < 4 seconds, 160+ top speed, and capability to do very long distances at high speeds on decrepit roads at a moment's notice). The pickup won't be street legal(post peak, it won't matter much) and will probably resemble something out of the Road Warrior.

6) Build alternative fueled vehicles and wind power systems for trade, grow certain plants to make biodiesel and other goods for trade

7) Buy all food local, get a small garden or farm going, dramatically reduce meat consumption

8) Learn more practical combat-oriented shooting skills

To do all this will cost about $100k when all is said and done, including paying off all debt.
