I've been laying low in these forums for some months. Though I found BIGG to be amusing and even enlightening at times, his usual tactic was to derail rational discussions and attack posters that disagreed with his position. His position being: Consume as much and as often as possible and the magic wand will fix it all. His braggging about his personal, fuel consuming possessions and his assumed stature were particularly obnoxious.
His continuous antagonism toward Monte and others was a detriment to the forums.
There are many people watching this site and the bad behaviour of the few could keep the many from becoming involved.
In my very first post I was assaulted by JohnDenver about my car. He had no response to my plans for alternative use- his was a pure attack. Let me tell you that I have better things to do than to get into a pissing match over a car that gets very little use.
The type of discourse offered by BIGG has questionable value here. Johndenver is an antagonist with quality. I just wish he would back off and offer a hand of encouragement to newcomers rather than the spanking he seems to think we need. Face to face I would have no problem with these people. The internet provides a fine place to act out on the big stage. On the other hand,. I have worked with a myriad of people types in real-world,scenarios and know that body language and facial expression count for a whole lot more than the emoticons convey.
Maybe I'm just imagining it, but I might have something to contribute.

The kind of 'optimism' offered by bigg is readily available from 99% of media outlets, indeed it is all they offer, gee whiz sketches of exotic sounding science with zero real significance.
I didn't like bigg cos he was a waste of time, but by all means, let him back in, see if he's learnt to hold the personal abuse and misrepresentation.

Let him come back.
Set conditions of his return dependent on good behavior.
If he violates again, then ban him permanently.
A lot of people don't come on here, just to see that the end of the world is coming, and without Bigg's optimism I'm seeing this possibility becoming true more and more every day.
A lot of us come on here, because we want to see how we can survive P.O. We want to see that there are ways that life after P.O. may not be tooooooo bad.
We want to see that there are VERY GOOD technologies in the works and some VERY GOOD efforts being taken to overcome the effects of P.O.
I DON'T HAVE THE TIME to look up all the technologies and efforts to avert P.O. in the press, like Bigg has. I would rather read his postings of these items and spend my other valuable time doing something else.
Maybe let him come back, but don't let him post comments, just his articles and scientific breakthroughs?? Appoint him the Peak Oil Forums technologies and efforts poster??

Sorry we are crashing your little perfect world, but BIGGs comments will do nothing to prevent peakoil wether he's here or not. If BIGG's presence here would help to prevent peakoil, it would be very short sighted of the board moderator to ban him.

BIGG maintains that there will be no serious peakoil/fuel shortages or economic problems. There is no point of having someone here reafirming your overly optimistic views of the future. Just because you say that alot of people come on here to see people write posts assuring that the future will be safe for you and your young ones is not the point of this message board.

Your time must be very valuable to you. You don't have time to worry about peakoil, you need someone like BIGGs to post reassuring messages for you so you can carry about your daily business as usual without worry or fear. What kind of bouble for yourself are you trying to sustain?
