I don't think I can say I ever started drinking. It's not that alcohol has never passed my lips, but it's been so occassional and so little amount that I don't think it can be called "starting to drink". My first taste of alcohol was about age 6, in spirit-filled chocolates. I still think that alcohol is great as a filling for chocolates, but I can't stand it in much greater quantities. I've never drank more than half a glass of wine. I just can't stand drinking any more. I start feeling silly and my throat burns, and I just have to stop.

Secondly, who is the kid in the picture? I know it's not you...the kid doesn't look Filipino...

I've been thinking about those two things for about 4 months and I finally want to know the answer.

By the way, the drinking age in most other civilized countries is 18, not 21. We are one of the few backward countries that allows sub-21-year-olds to fight in wars and vote, but not drink alcohol.

Only Nigeria, Egypt, and the USA have a drinking age at 21.

As I was growing up, my parents allowed me to have a sip now and then with meals. I never thought it was a big deal to drink beer, but my friends were amazed. Maybe its because my Ma was off the boat from Germany. As I got into my teenage years, of course I partied hardy. Then I joined the USAF in the early Seventies and became a drinking pro. When I got out I got involved with softball and as any softballer knows it goes hand in hand with beer, plus I played for the local bar down the street.

I drank it all until I was around 40, then I got into a big fight with my wife and she said 'whiskey or me'. I chose her, but continued to enjoy my beer. So now I'm 51 and I knock back about a case a week. Absolutely no liquor however, and to be honest, I don't miss the whiskey, it seemed whenever I got into a fight or had some kind of problem it was right when I was rather nastily drunk on that.

So, I'll just stick to my beer now. Along with an occasional 'attitude adjuster' if you all catch my drift.

Well, first time I got really drunk I was 13. Shots of peppermint schnapps and vodka. Didn't know what hit me. Blew chunks and passed out. Sicker than a dog the next day. Vowed to never drink again.

That 'vow' lasted until I was about 17-18 when I started drinking beer. At first I hated beer, but I learned to like it.

So probably late teens early twenties was when I started to drink. But I was a bnige drinker then. I wouldn't drink for a week or two, then I'd suck down an entire case of beer.

In my mid-twenties I went through my hard liquor phase. Lots of tequila (margaritas), scotch on the rocks, and good vodka.

Finally in my mid 30's I came close to being a full alcoholic. Drinking at least a six pack of beer a day (yes, back to beer).

That was too much, and I've since (last four years) cut way back on my drinking. It's a good thing. Now perhaps I'll have a beer or two, or shot of good liquor every now and then.

I love getting drunk as much as I hate the hangovers. Decided it wasn't worth the toll on my health and pocketbook.

On my 27th birthday I walked from bar to bar, asking if they gave out free shots on peoples birthdays. So I live in Wisconsin (madison) and there used to be more bars than just about anything downtown. I sucked down 20-30 shots during the course of the evening. Felt great, but I think I was in a coma for a while later that night And the hangover... don't ask.

Oh yeah, there was the also the time we were drinking a mixture of grain alcohol (100% alcohol) and kool-aid out of a garbage bag in the dorms. Next thing I know I'm staggering down the hallway to the john. Almost made it to the toilet before projectile vomiting on the side of the stall. I think the red stain is still there. Ah, youth.

Vista 2007 started drinking early this morning and then chased it with a triple hit of meth.
