Another language would be Russian. That country has a lot more going for it right now then the cash for clunker society we have...

They have a drastically declining population base - and it's probably one country that could actually withstand the global population boom. It's a huge country, good soil, decent rainfall. I see them being less and less a factor. Don't forget that the ethnic Russian population is declining even faster but is being counterbalanced (somewhat) by immigration from Chinese, Central Asians (Muslims) and others.
Russian would be nice because they have so much technical writing out there. And the literature is very dark often - perfect for our future. Nothing says PO like Dead Souls.
