1) Have as many children as you possibly can. One in a thousand will survive.
2) Have few children and take good care of them. Most of them will survive.
However the strategy isn't purely down to species, it's also the down to the gender. The best way for a man's genes to survive is to be adulterous as hell and for those mothers to convince their respective partners that cuckoo in the nest is actually their own. Ie, for a man it's to get other men to support their offspring.
