$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Peepers', 'T')hat film was pretty disappointing. It assumed the "love affair" of the car was sacred. No discussion of land use reform. No discussion of increased localization of farming. No discussion of increased use of rail, transit, walking, cycling, telecommuting, etc. Just the assumption that we need to find technologies and energy replacements to maintain our high-mileage lifestyles. I guess we'll just have to find out the hard way where we'll need to make the difficult choices....
We're not addicted to oil. We're addicted to a profligate lifestyle that we're apparently going to try to hang on to at all costs.
I was sorry I missed it until I read your review, peepers, and thanks for that. Now I'm glad I did not see it. I would have probably thrown a brick at the TV.
What is it with Americans where any suggestion of even the smallest lifestyle change, away from this bloated car dependancy, seems to be off the table-- nonnegotiable? I just want to slap these people upside their heads.
Fucken lifestyles change, folks. Can we just stop this nonsense with this obsession of pushing our metal padded living rooms all over town, already?
