More insanity from a financial astrologist

John Mauldin, "registered financial advisor":

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he Casandras who predict that the world will run out of energy simply don't get it. Yes, we will eventually see oil production peak and then begin to fall. But it will not be a calamitous over the waterfalls type of event. It will simply be a gradual lessening of production.

John Mauldin, "registered financial advisor," also extols the virtues of ethanol and tar sands:$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')n the future instead of buying oil from OPEC we will grow it in Kansas and mine it in Canada. $100 oil will force market solutions for other energy sources and whole new industries and technologies.

John Mauldin, RFA, quoting his "good friend" Jim Williams:$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '"')Natural gas will become the preeminent fuel of the 21st century. Moving natural gas requires liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, special ships, regasification terminals, and lots of pipelines for distribution. As one energy executive put it, 'Supply is not the issue; it is the delivery of gas to the market.' Before this transition occurs, a world-wide infrastructure for natural gas, such as that now enjoyed by oil, must emerge."

It will simply be a gradual lessening of production. correct

What he does not tell you is that the share market will not gradually crash. As oil production gradually lessen, the price of oil will shoot up like a rocket and this will cause the share market to enter a recession as profit results drop like a rock due to high energy cost.

$100 oil will force market forces to come up with other energy sources which would cost $101 per equivalent barrel of oil. Yes, it will NOT be cheap oil substitute. Do not assume other energy sources to be cheap. If other energy sources really cheap then we would be using them today.

Natural Gas will peak too, infact the price of Natural Gas has already gone up.
Cheap Natural Gas is history literally.

My friend who's a banker told me that a $100 per barrel is just a massive stroke for the world economy. It will come and it will pass, with proper "medicinal" remedies to alleviate the oil markets. After that, it will goes down to normal sellable oil barrels by the end of year, barring a major disaster or war.

Tell your friend that his analogy, "massive stroke," is hilarious, because little does he realize how true that is:

A massive stroke causes paralysis and death.

Yeah, just look at what Terri Shiavo's massive heart attack did to her, because that's about what our economy will be like...

At least our "experts" recognize that there is going to be a problem with energy. That's a considerable improvement over their previous, "let's close our eyes and hope it goes away" approach. Let's just hope they start to see light before it goes all the way out!

Mauldin obviously never studied the Greek classics otherwise he would know that Cassandra's prophecies always came true. Her curse was that she was never believed.

I think many on this forum know the feeling all too well.

Thank you for reminding me of that. It's like "peak oil" means we're "running out" and "crying wolf" means "false warning." We're not running out, and this time the wolf is really coming. We're not "pulling legs" like the boy who cried wolf was the first two times.
