Baseball Cards, Comic Books, etc.

So...I know this may sound weird, but I've been saving all my baseball cards, comic books, and 'magic the gathering' cards since I was a kid with the expectation that I'd sell off as collectors items when I get old.

But, I guess after PO, they'd only be good as fuel.

So I guess I should sell them off now on Ebay, while they're still worth anything at all eh?

Ok, how many other Magic: The Gathering geeks are peak oilers? Come on, don't be shy now, speak up....

I am. Don't have the time or money to play anymore, but I used to be into it heavy. States championships, PTQ's, regionals, the works. I sold all my expensive cards when I stopped playing. I also recently sold the brunt of my comic collection, but I continue to pick up a few titles that I really enjoy. I had the entire collection of Ultimate Spider Man from issue #1 all the way up to the then current. And the first few issues were signed by the writer!

I sold them on eBay a month and a half ago. The money went to buying gold and silver coins.

Yes, I would advise you to sell it all. Comic books, magic cards... all of it. They're going to be useless. My rational for spending so much money on the comics to begin with was that they would retain, if not gain value over time, and that I could always recoup my money by selling them. I don't believe that will be true in the future. When the $#%^ hits the fan, the value of all our fancy toys and other unneccesay items will be hit hardest. Precious metals may not be the best investment either, but I'm sure they'll be better that comic books.

You guys still reading any comics? Y: The Last Man, Supreme Power, and Ultimate Spider Man are the bomb. I'll continue buying them until the comic companies go out of business.

sell thing like that ASAP. even before the PO we will run into a recession in the us and you can get a lot more if you sell it now

Heh, maybe we should all get together post PO and have a MTG game over a nice fire and some homebrewed mead.

As far as comics go, the best one I've seen in ages is: Tales of the Bully Pulpit.

Plot summary: Teddy Rosevelt and the Ghost of Thomas Edison travel to the far future to fight NAZIs on Mars.

When I was younger, back when I was in middle school, I collected Pokemon cards. It was one of those great trends back them, and I seemed to had brought into it. Now they're mostly useless, I would say the same with baseball cards as well. The only use of it is fuel for the fire, let them burn.
