Has there ever been a president in your lifetime that met with your approval in this regard?

Needless is subjective. I don't buy your BS poppy conspiracy argument regarding Afghanistan.

I doubt it, and although this is a tired argument, I really don't see why people with such a virulently negative opinion of the US keep living here unless they really can't live without the benefits of the very 'imperialism' they criticize.

Who me?

Nope. Carter came close. So did Ford. Neither of them started any wars.

For that reason alone I like them both. :)

I realize for most Americans, patriotism=loving war.

However, I happen to have a very negative opinion of idiotic wars, but I love America!! :)

This makes us anti-war folks part of a small minority. I do realize this. :)

Good, that's what I assumed. America as a whole has never in my lifetime been much for pacifism. But, it's an honorable goal. I don't think it will ever get there until and unless we become more self-sustainable.

The Carter Doctrine (of which, I'm sure you are aware):

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'L')et our position be absolutely clear: An attempt by any outside force to gain control of the Persian Gulf region will be regarded as an assault on the vital interests of the United States of America, and such an assault will be repelled by any means necessary, including military force.

Ford seemed like a decent guy, but I'm not sure he had much time to show us what he would do in terms of use of military force.

I bet the guy has an orgasm every single time an IED rips into our troops in Iraq or a suicide bomber takes out an Israeli cafe.

being against one thing doesn't mean this guy is pro something else. Those cartoons are pretty graphic and cynical though.

It's the sin of omission. He's against israel and visualizes their leadership literally as butcher zionists. There isn't a single political cartoon that criticizes the palestinians other than implying that Abbas is a puppet of the Bush administration. The message is clear enough for me.
