Sharon Astyk has an interesting essay at Carolyn Baker's website
http://carolynbaker.net/site/content/view/418/
talks about inter-related processes such as Climate Change, Peak Oil, the Credit 'Crisis' (how can it be a crisis if it was planned ?), in an essay where she expounds on the term James Kunstler may have devised, the Long Emergency.
i like the phrase, "1000 foot tidal wave". not a perfect metaphor, because the watery part would be over quickly if we did have such a big tidal wave. Also, however destructive such an event would be, it would be localized in its effect.
{Peak Oil + Climate Change + etc.} won't be over quickly, and it won't be localized
but i still like the term, "1000 foot tidal wave". i rarely have the feeling that i'm doing enough to prepare for it, just that i'm doing my approximate best to prepare for it.
