Rejoining the Army

Unread postby jasonraymondson » Sat 02 Feb 2008, 00:27:56

Just thought I would let you all my good friends on here know that I have decided to re-enlist. I will be going back in this summer. I am meeting with some recruiters tomorrow.

good luck Jayray, hope they don't have you guarding the palace gates if things should get real ugly, you might have to shoot a few of us. For some strange reason though, I feel we'll be seeing you here for awhile yet. Maybe it's because you made a big SONG AND DANCE about leaving for good a few months ago? Anyway, I like having you here and hope you don't leave.

Jason is not like other posters Polemic, I'm sure you know this since you've been here a while. Still Jayray, it wouldn't do at all for you to go and get your ass all shot up for God only knows what reason.

Even though I am going into the Army doesn't mean I won't be on here ever again. I am still going to watch everything crash around, but I plan to be one of the guys with the guns :P When I am locking you away in one of the Haliburton camps just make sure to let me know your usernames that you had on here so I know which holding cell would be best. Since I am going into intelligence, maybe just maybe I will get to interrogate you.

Godspeed buddy.

The negative I've heard from friends who've been in recently, is that with the demand for warm bodies in theater being what it is, the pretty-damned-dumb Private has now become the dangerously-stupid gonna-get-us-killed Private. Also, some units have not been able to get a handle on their Disciples and MS13 problems. But, probably not much new to you if you've been in before.

They are taking some pretty stupid people. That is true.

I figure going back in won't be that bad. I am already in decent shape and given my age and prior experience I should be okay.

What annoys me is them telling me I have to back through basic. Now that pisses me off, but nothing I can do about that. At least I know what to expect.

Good luck JayJay!! I'm too damned old by like, 2 years, and I can't get 'em to bend it. The big joke saying about M.I. back in the day was "missing intelligence" lol, funny but not so harsh as to piss people off. When in doubt, just tell 'em your unit is the "3rd In-Flight Missile Repair" and that'll shut 'em up.

Take care of yourself. The Army (or military in general) even counting in the kill or be-killed aspect these days, is the best deal a non-rich American is going to get these days. The Army is actually middle-class compared to how most people live. So, be safe, stay alive, and come back and train others how you instilled PTSD in the heathen for der Fatherland! 8)

Partially, I do think then here in a few years it will get much harder to find work. I feel I got a safer and securer way to make a living as military grunt then as a 1 of the 50 million zombies roaming the streets looking for work.

Not surprised on your decision Jason, I have always seen you as a cynical heretic wearing a mask. Those who like to be right...eventually join the Righteous Ravenous Right....your youth is yours to squander dude.
EWE are old enough to wander onto whatever field of dreams you want and start grazing on the grub THEY feed ewe.

I don't think it has anything to do with being sheep. I understand reality. I know you don't care for the idea Raph, but I figure it is better to be the well eqiped guy with the guns than to be the guy wandering around trying to find work, and then being shot by the guy who joined as he inforcing homeland oppression.
They just better never ask me to salute Bush.

Yeah, Sigh, I think you have it pegged JayJay.

You should be able to post here regularly, and I'm sure we'd all love to hear from you, maybe even "adopt" your unit, and send ya stuff.

As for the rest of us here on the homefront, we're gonna hold us a little re-enactment of the 1930s thank you very much. I don't think gov't goons will get much traction here, bunch'a crazy ass sniper wannabees up here, trouble is, some of us wannabees can shoot pretty good lol. But you never know, I'm kind of hoping this area is mostly passed over, and the main "pacification" will be in the cities.

Reading about what happened in Germany in the 20s and 30s is educational. There were pitched battles in the streets between various rightist and leftist groups, and the Soviets made pretty great inroads. The population got pretty damned fed up with the street fighting and voting Hitler in was a big relief. And it was a big improvement, as long as you were German. It'd be lying to say otherwise.

As far as the saluting Bush goes, you will salute whoever is President, I'd think you'd have learned that the first time around. You might not like him/her, but you will salute them. However, your oath is to defend the Constitution as well, so things could get interesting. I'd say, don't make any grand gestures, it's just not worth it.

I hope it works out for you. If you hear word of an impending nuclear war, please don't hesitate to send me a PM so I can hope on the train to Times Square.

Good luck and God bless!

Don't know about baguettes, but the French MRE's (called RCIR's) are reportedly vastly superior to the American MRE's. link
