Do you take your shoes off in doors?

This question came to mind because in a thread about appliances someone was discussing how to avoid using a vacuum cleaner and he suggested taking your outdoor shoes off when you go inside.

Now I've always taken my outside shoes off when I go inside a persons home but then I live in a country where you would be tracking in snow or mud for half the year if you didn't take off your shoes/boots. My thought is that there might be a fairly close relationship between how far north you live and whether or not you take off your shoes when you come in the door.

Just about always take them off right away, yes. If it was my own house I'd always take them off - I'd have an area by the door to leave them (can't do that here nor anywhere else I've lived), and I'd make anyone else coming inside my place take their shoes off too.

I don't trust people that wear their shoes indoors - it is something I noticed some people do when I'd hang about with different people - it was like they weren't aware of their bodies half the time and it wouldn't even occur to them they had their outdoor shoes on their own bedcovers or something awful like that.

Funny story - this terribly greasy landlord I had was one of them shoe-wearers-indoors people ; one of his other tennants told me one time she went round with a cheque and to ask him about something, and he wouldn't speak to her until he put his shoes on! What a shady weirdo. Gotta worry about someone that needs their shoes on to talk with you....

If you can't say it barefoot, it means you're a liar.
