It's May 2007, 2 years after the C+C peak (assuming the updated stats over the next couple months don't show a large increase).

STOP!!! Comparing Post-Peakedness to reality isn't fair and doesn't count. I just paid $4.50/gal for gasoline yesterday, isn't that bad enough for you?

$4.50 a gallon?! Ouch!

But anyway, the idea that as soon as peak is hit, we suddenly resort to Dawn of the Dead is somewhat fantastical. Price rises, stock consolidation and muscling out of smaller energy users is what will be immediate concerns and what we're seeing now.

When demand really is outstripping supply, then you'll get your Hollywood-esque problems. By 2010, you'll be well into that.

In Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and Sudan. The poorest who can no longer afford oil products will suffer first.

Regina Saskatchewan.

Was in an elevator earlier in the day, and the guy beside me talking to someone else make a crack that it was a good day when we paid $5/gal for gas, and I got a surprised look on my face and said "excuse me?" and he said "yeah, expensive gas means a thriving economy because lots of people are using gas".......wow......like HE sure didn't know we were 2 years in and are all lucky to be alive this late in the game.

Wonder if $10 gasoline would cause him to pull his head out of his ass?

Good question. Thats only a doubling from current prices, I guess it would depend on how exposed he is to high transportation costs. Now that the weather is good, we're back to bicycles here in Saskatchewan, motorcycles are out, heck, I walked to dinner last night.

I guess I stayed away too long or was never paying attention to begin with, cause I have no idea what C+C means.

Conventional plus condensate?

Crude plus coal?

My grades in science and math? On second thought, I guess it is too late for them to be updated.

Or were you thinking cadavers plus cordwood?

No matter, are you itching to make Zombies into cadavers and cordwood perhaps?

Mostly at home, drinking themselves into a stupor, as their houses are sold at a foreclosure auction on the local courthouse steps.

Yeah but it's been a slow decline which makes me wonder if it is a plateau or not? Guess I'll know in five years.

The EIA updated their figures for up to May 2007 today and we're officially 2 years without a production increase.

LOL Pops! Cadavers + Cordwood!

While I tend to believe that we are indeed post peak the small declines have been met by (unwilling) demand destruction in the third world. Ironically in many places which are actually oil producers. So the current slowly declining plateau has not really impacted the developed world yet (or anyone who can afford the increases) - But as I understand it at some point the production declines begin to increase rapidly and thats when we will see not just expense but unavailability in the developed world as well.

I am not seeing zombies, but I am seeing people hopped up on anti depressants. You know the look; vacant and blank stares.

Only time left to wait and see.

If crude production never again exceeds that May 2005 high, then you need to value and enjoy every day that seems "normal."

I really don't understand those that keep wanting the pain to arrive yesterday.

If oil has peaked, abnormal times are a'coming. And those right soon.
