Very useful Copy Link Firefox extension - CoLT

Wanting to speed things up a bit, so I can spend even more hours reading about how messed up the world is, I found CoLT.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'C')oLT makes it easy to copy either a hyperlink's text or both the link and the link's text (in a format you specify). Two handy context-menu items make this possible, and don't add clutter; the items are only visible when right-clicking a link!

CoLT adds two menu items to the browser's context menu, both of which are only visible when right-clicking a hyperlink. The "Copy Link Text" menu item copies a hyperlink's associated text to the clipboard, while the "Copy Link Text and Location" menu item copies both the hyperlink's text and URL to the clipboard in the format you choose: either as plain text, as an HTML hyperlink, or as a custom format (which you may specify). A very handy tool for blogs!

Example of Use: If the text "Download Firefox" is a hyperlink to the official Firefox download page, the "Copy Link Text" menu item will place the text "Download Firefox" on the clipboard.

For instance, the link at the top was simply a matter of right-clicking and selecting "Copy Link Text and Location>BB Code." None of the bother of trying to use this board's Link button, which only works half the time in my experience, and is unwieldly to boot; or writing out the code yourself (which can be useful if you want to change the text which appears for the link).

From the coder who developed the equally indispensable GooglebarLite.

While we're at it, I've can't live without Auto Copy. Select text and it's automatically copied to the clipboard.

Standard feature in most Linux distros. And not just for the browser... 8)

Also with a 3-button mouse, I can middle-click a link in Firefox and it opens in a new tab. Might be able to do it in the 'Doze version of Firefox as well but I'm not sure...

Yeah, win version works that way as well.

Sure does. I use Tab Mix Plus too, you can control what mouse buttons do, size of tabs, color, add little progress bars...
I have a Ubuntu install disk but tossed it in the box when the daunting install issues reared their head. Didn't realize MP3s were proprietary tech!
XP still does the job, it may be the ICE of OSes but installing Linux is still too nuts and bolts for me. It seems like for a while now everything that used to be so special about Macs is available for Windows if you just poke around a bit, like Auto-copying things in your OS...what good does that do you, anyway? You can Auto-copy your trash can? D'You mean in Word Processors and such?

Still having trouble with Google's grafting on its junk to the URLs you get in search results. Complained about this here, and yesterday at here.

Does TinyURL really solve this problem? Seems like depending on TinyURL's URLs might backfire.

Trying out Convert and Paste which can graft on text to what you paste when you use Ctrl-Shift-V. Faster, faster! I'm like the piano player in Reefer Madness, if you dig.
