$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'G')reetings,

Of course, almost everyone wants their own culture to survive.

Including us...

(Why do we fear for our way of life, or why do we think that's possible?)

Solutions?

Yeah that's a tough question.

We discuss that everyday on the site. Some think alternative energy
technologies will replace oil as it begins declining, while others feel that
is wishful thinking.

It mainly depends on the rate at which oil depletes, and how nations react
to oil scarcity.

2% depletion per year, would mean we have decades to figure it out.

5% + would mean wide spread economic disruption.

More than that, and war becomes the real fear.

What is the solution?

Wish I knew...

Please feel free to contact me at your leisure.

It's also a certainty, that one or more of our members shares a common
language with you besides English, if you would like some information from a
native speaker.

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

I spent nearly a year in Norway some years ago, and most Norwegians speak EXCELLENT English, better than some native English speakers in fact. Their writing in English may not be so perfect, but most can understand spoken and written English nearly perfectly.

Sent her a short mail, but yes, most Norwegians understand english very well indeed.

EDIT: It's now been one month (28.08 ), and dagbladet.no still hasn't published any articles about peak oil, nor anything interesting about oil at all.

They're pretty much a tabloid, and they've downsized recently, so don't expect anything monumental. Also the other main Norwegian papers have touched upon the issue frequently, stopping only short before uttering the word "peak".
