One could imagine a denial-of-service attack of their web servers but I could not possibly condone such activities.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('smallpoxgirl', ' ')Everytime you go in a store, in addition to being videod, all of your purchases are linked to your name for analysis by that little shoppers club card that gives you $0.17 off on a gallon of milk.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('thylacine', 'A') tinfoil hat will deflect the orbital mind control lasers.

Recent scientific studies reveal that the tinfoil hat actually acts like an antenna that AMPLIFIES the orbital mind control lasers. You should avoid using them...

I can just imagine what the NSA/FBI agent assigned to look through my internet activity is saying to his buddies:
"Good Lord, how many google searches for 'jennifer lopez' can one man do?!"
Anyways, the answer to your question should be obvious at this point.
Best,
Matt

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('smallpoxgirl', ' ')If you've ever worked for the federal government, been in the military, been arrested, or had a handgun permit then the FBI has copies of your fingerprints in a computer file.

which you could get for $18 and be on the same page as so called big brother who is supposed to watch you secretly. What kinda big brother is it if you have access to so called "secret file" and if he wouldn't disclose he would be breaking the law and you could sue.

It is only a pity phycologists charge a bit more for "the file", so most on this board cannot afford it. But at least you could afford $18 to get back your peace of mind and the trust in your government, but since it takes over a month to process, looks like FBI computers are not that powerful after all. :)
In the field it takes about half an hour to pull all dirt on you for pretty much any law enforcement officer, so from my first hands experience, if you are clean you will not face more then half an hour facing the wall hand behind the head and this is something to prize you big brother for! After all, in some parts of the world, they would just book you and you just might disappear to avoid hassle.

So either be scared or go to your local FBI office during "open house" (they do have it now and then) to learn what your tax money are wasted on. I had a priviledge to be called in for an interview in connection with my flying and it did change my perception of the big brother forever.

Just think; the real benefit of the failure of the electric system will be the loss of all this data so it cannot then be used against us. Tell me I am not deep down an optimist.

Heinberg had a lovel vision of a monastery in the future with monks on bicycles driving generatators for the last computer that holds all the world's information.
This is pure fantasy of course, they would use a water wheel.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('thylacine', 'W')e probably aren't being watched. Not unless you use words like "bomb" "jihad" or "secret mission" in your postings.

Thankfully, real terrorists use these words and phrases in their secret communications all the time - having never thought to outwit Echelon by substituting words like 'cabbage', 'porpoise' and 'low fat yogurt' .

Well..first I assume you are talking about your FBI file not your fingerprints. You can get your fingerprints for less than $18 as they are generally attached to your hands.

Secondly....wether you are able to access your FBI file, and how much of it you are able to access is entirely dependent on who you are and how much of a threat they consider you. Leonard Peltier just lost a lawsuit trying to get FBI files on him from 30 years ago. Apparently the FBI's activities on a little reservation in nowhereville South Dakota 30 years ago is still considered a national security threat. After 20 years of the Cointelpro program infiltrating, spying on, and actively disrupting political disident groups in the US, the only reason the program came to light was that a group of activists broke in to an FBI field office and stole a bunch of files. That theft and the documents that were released as a result eventually led to the Senate investigating and then banning the program. Cointelpro type activities continue today under various guises, especially JTTF. Only a fool would believe that the FBI is going to tell you about all their activity in spying on you.

If you think the government databases wouldn't have a backup power source "off-grid", you're in for a nasty surprise.

Ya beat me to the punch, sort of! A lack of electricity won't save your ass. They don't need back up power to store data. Digital tape drives have huge volume and are used today by industry for secure data back up. I saw them in an electronics catalogue a few years ago for a few grand a pop. Needless to say tptb have all the dope on any wanna-be miscreants, blackouts or no.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mekrob', 'I')'ve been thinking of distancing myself from PO and its thought completely if not a whole lot as the government seems to be gaining more and more powers and could easily monitor this site ...

You think you people are paranoid? You think you're nervous about being under surveilance? You think you're scared shitless about getting that "knock on the door" late one night?
Ha! You're all wusses and wimps compared to this bunch! You want fear? You want glassy-eyed, white-knuckle, anxiety-attack-inducing paranoia on a vast scale?

You think Peak Oil is being watched? Imagine the number of agencies that must be monitoring that little site! They've probably been infiltrated by dozens of agents already!
