plants, i appreciate your question. right click on it, copy the location and then open it up in a new tab or window. It’s actually larger than it appears.

You are on the right track. The man is running (it seems to be a race or a time trial) and the woman is slowly walking in front of his path looking in the opposite direction. He doesn’t stop, she gets broadsided in the head (presumably by his chin), hits the ground, and he trips over her.

My only explanation (similar to yours) is that he was so caught up in his race or time trial that he didn’t see what was in front of him. Or if he did, it wasn’t till the last moment, and then it was too late, which has PO parallels.

I laugh every time. But, at this point, I’d laugh at pretty much anything. All this serious stuff can weight heavily and any comic relief is necessary to remain sane. At least for me. 8O

It look kinda like he gropes her when he lands. Probably not deliberate though.

OK I get no information from examining the file, but from your explanation and description of the groping, etc it sounds like routine violence, I.E., Whitey was walking on the wrong part of the track.

Actually, look at the hands - both placed in front, planning for the impact. It was intentional, gal in front was not looking out, but should not have had to look out, EXCEPT for intentional attacks.

Gal in front should know to always look out for attacks when walking on the wrong part of the track. Wrong part of the track defined as anywhere within 100 yds. of the aggressor shown in this educational little movie.

well if it was deliberate then it's just not that funny anymore. I’m not sexist or anything, or interested in promoting violence...just looking for a laugh. And if the consensus of this site is that it's too violent, then i will be happy to keep it off.

i would also add that she's looking at the camera recording it, thats a major part of why it's funny and adds to the irony of the collision.

This is the runway for the long jump.

The blonde with the knapsack has evidently just finished her event, and is walking through the track infield in a daze. Usually there are other events going on at the same time as the jumps. From her size and shape, I would say she is some sort of distance runner, but this is only speculation.

The long jumper is concentrating on the board at the end of the runway, and is not paying any attention to her.

It would have been more interesting had it been a pole vaulter.

He might have hit her on purpose. It is a huge insult to walk anywhere near the runway (especially crossing it) when a fellow athlete is preparing to jump or do a vault.

It looked like to me his left hand makes contact with her chest just before his chin and then should make contact with her head. Her head really snapped back on that impact.

It did look intentional too.

I wonder if she will wonder around with out thought in the future?

Could be lesson taught, lesson learned.

I would guess that if he runs her down he will get a second chance...if he doesn't run when the gun goes off he may loose the competition & when he says "my path was blocked" they would just say he's whining & making excuses...if he runs her over there is no question about it.

I think it's a riot :-D

I seriously doubt that anything intentional went on there. It is much too risky for elite atheletes to sustain injury. Likely, the woman was not paying attention for whatever reason, and the guy running was concentrating so hard on whatever he was doing he didn't notice her until it was too late. When you are running as fast as these guys can, you can't just stop suddenly.

does not look intentional IMHO.

he probly never expected her to cross "the lines"

She has no clue. He is running, sees somebody in his path puts out a hand to "break" the collision.

Pretty obviously UNintentional to me.

I respectfully disagree in this deeply meaningful debate (it’s too hot outside).

We are obviously the runner racing full-tilt to some imaginary pseudo-accomplishment and barrel unaware into the uninterested personage of Peak Oil Jane. Copping a feel on the way to the crash we imagine a soft landing but massive brain trauma on impact leaves us crippled and crawling for the rest of our existence.

Or not.

Maybe I'm a ninny but I don't think it's funny at all. The way her neck snapped, and her unpreparedness suggests to me that she probably sustained some sort of injury. Which I don't like to watch. The runner at least put up his arms and had a moment to brace and is probably ok. Didn't look intentional. But ppl getting hurt bothers me. Watching it over and over and over bothers me bothers me bothers me. Then it occurred to me, this movie avatar is probably eating up resources on my POS computer.

So I blocked it.
