I was going to make this my avatar but decided against it because it might make me seem like too much of an over the top doomer.

That image is along the lines of the avatar that lights himself on fire or that Emoticon that microwaves himself

LOTRFAN: It's hard to get a full handle on the pic when it is that reduced in size. I thought it looked cool and artistic with that feminine body and what looked like a feather. [smilie=5obsessed.gif]

Cute!!

I have a newer one, which I think is pretty hopeful. I don't always feel that way, but I try...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('stupid_monkeys', 'W')ell thank you, but I would like to concede and i encourage you to put your support behind Ludi's new avatar. It is by far the craziest thing i've ever seen.

You observed it from the start
Now you’re a million miles apart
As we bleed another nation
So you can watch you favorite station
Now you eyes pop out your sockets
Dirty hands and empty pockets
Who? You!

Apparently Sam in all its ugliness helped his owner through chemotherapy.

I've always liked Barbara's avatar for some reason. Also curious about it - is she the one hiking down the road?

The avatars for Microhydro & DomusAlbion have always seemed the most serene to me (Microhydro has the waterfall and DomusAlbion has the Middle-Earthish field).

Clv101's is a bit cliched, but very appropriate (oil well silhouetted against a setting sun).

Image$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pea-jay', '
')As for my current avatar, it comes from an oil field not far from me. It's a small field (producing 39K barrels a YEAR) but yet so very much emblematic of our overall oil production situation. I have driven by this particular well an number of times over the past few years and seen it operate. Much to my bemusement, the last time I passed by it I saw huge lettering stating "out of service."
I missed a chance to photograph a good one - there was a big oil rig drilling in front of a row of wind turbines. I took my camera when I passed that way a few days later, but the rig had already been taken down. :(

I love Permanently_Baffled's sinking England:

and shadypeach's hilarious firebug:

By the way:

This

is indeed Gregory Despres, the chainsaw murderer who crossed over into our state of Maine.

When I saw his pic, I laughed and laughed and laughed. How could anyone NOT know he was a lunatic? That hair!

That look in his eyes is exactly this: 8O , which is one of the most-frequently used "smilies" on board.

That look on Greggy's face is the look of a neophyte discovering the truth about Peak Oil.

I was kind of concerned some mods might be a bit angry with the avatar but apparantly people think it's just a feather so I'm good.

Leenans avatar with the reptile bird is a great on, too. One that I remember from over two years ago, when just lurching around on this forum.

Is Sam blind? I was thinking in a way it's good if he is, as he'd likely scare himself silly if he ever saw himself in a mirror. Those clouded eyes makes him look a bit like a hell hound.
Kind regards, Katkinkate
