The New World: Go see it on the big screen!

Unread postby Lokutus » Wed 25 Jan 2006, 22:57:47

I just saw it. Absolutely beautiful. Beyond words.

I didn't like Malick's previous film, Thin Red Line, but he's redeemed himself with The New World.
What will arrive first? Peak Oil or the Second Coming? My money is now on the latter.

Pitchers

North America was truly the Garden of Eden before we came along.

In the theaters? Not on DVD yet. If it's a good historical epic, then it's bucking a bad trend set by crapcan epics like Alexander and Kingdom of Heaven, both a couple of turkeys.

I was very dissapointed by Troy. Barely stayed awake through Alexander and found Kingdom of Heaven just "okay".

The New World is just stunning.

The 14 year old Inca/German girl is marvelous as Pocahontas.

Have you see The Beast yet?

Probably next week I'll get it from Blockbuster online. I'm looking forward to this one here that you're talking about. Sounds good. I put it on my queue for when it does come out on DVD.

Really looking forward to seeing this one...

I thought The Thin Red Line was an excellent film as well. Cinematrography was top-notch.

The cinematography here is even better than in TRL.

I marvel at the fact that despite being 2.5 hours long, I was never bored. Not even for a minute.

The first face to face confrontation between the invaders and the "naturals" is mind-blowing. It's as if two races from distant galaxies had bumped into one another.

I'm going to go see it again this weekend.
