Love that house but we can build one better :)

The sun at 50 degrees latitude is at approx 76 degrees in the summer and approx 26.5 degrees in the winter.
The windows should be at the opposite right angle facing south or approx 63.5 degrees (63.5 + 26.5 = 90) for best winter sun heat.
Pour a thick floor and you wont need any btu retention devices like those plastic tubes although water in black bottles/barrels would work fine for the greenhouse or in the house I suppose.
Water is said to be a better retainer of heat then stone.

I have seen a much simpler composting toilet - find human humus machine which anyone with alittle skill could construct themselves and quite cheaply.
No water, urine evaporates and all you need really is the ability to move the thing when its full (barrel doly) and a 5 watt fan and vent to help with any smell and the evaporation.
1400 uses so it needs a new barrel once a year for a family of four.

We plan our sink to be right beside the indoor garden using the greywater.
The tub and wash water will be earth/sand filtered and used in the greenhouse which is next to the house.

I like how they have the gutter drain running inside yet we are going to have ours running into a cistern as well as all the rain water within a 5' area around the house.

Plants need alot less water then most think especially when they are inside and not really experiencing much evaporation like the outside plants.
So our daily dish washing should be enough water for quite a large area and if not - the tap is right there.

Yeah - plenty of good ideas - looks like a good website for people who are going to retro fit or build something new yet the prices are kinda up there but then again I am kinda cheap
It is easier to enslave a people that wish to remain free then it is to free a people who wish to remain enslaved.
