The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Punk is not really a style of music. It was more like a state of mind.

Queen, Another one bites the dust.

Could be the anti-zomby song also.

Doors (and covered nicely by the Dead) "Ship of Fools"

"It was later than I thought...
Now I cannot share your laughter
Ship of Fools..."

Pretty much sums up what many of us here seem to have been feeling the last few years. The laughter on the ship is beginning to subside somewhat as gas makes its way into the first foot hills of what will soon be a mountain-high ascent. (Sorry about the mixed metaphor.)

How about....Doom Despair and Agony on Me from the old Country Music Show called Hee Haw??

Doom, despair and agony on me. Deep dark depression and excessive misery. If it wasn't for bad luck, i'd have no luck at all. Doom, depair and agony on me........................

Here is a punk rock version!

"American Dream"
By Better Than Ezra

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'S')he was a midwestern prom queen
Got her boyfriend headed out West
They ended up in the valley
In a one room apartment
A disconnected phone
Yeah

Now five years later she's single
She's got two kids and a note
And if she gets a moment to herself
She can remember how everything used
To go her way
She says

Where did the time go
When everything was simple and free?
I want to know what happened
Somebody woke me before I could
Have my American Dream

For twenty years he worked corporate
He planned to early retire
His CEO he stole a billion dollars
Now he's working at Denny's
Hoping for a raise
He thinks

Where did the time go
When everything was simple and free?
I want to know what happened
Somebody woke me before I could
Have my American Dream

Yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm a little bit rebel
I'm a bit patriot
I can see they're both sides of the coin
But still it gets a bit rough
Everything is screwed up
I guess its just the American way

Sometimes I wonder how you are
You're up in New York City with a family
I think I could have been your guy
It's just a moment in time that is slipping on away

Where did the time go
When everything was simple and free?
I want to know what happened
Somebody woke me before I could have
My American Dream
My American Dream

Yeah, yeah, yeah

She was a midwestern prom queen
Got her boyfriend headed out West

What's the soundtrack to your peak oil awakening?

....
REJOICE IN THE SUN

Heels of children running wild in the sun
like a forest is your child growing wild in the sun
Doomed in his innocence in the sun.

Gather your children to your side in the sun
tell them all they love will die, tell them why, in the sun
tell them it's not too late for today one by one
tell them to harvest and rejoice --- in the sun.

NOTHING TO FEAR

Hey neighbor let me give you some advice
The russians are about to pulverize us
In our sleep tonight
That is if the crazy arabs
Or the riots dont get us first
And the fire will rain down from the sky
The fire will rain down from the sky

People will die--people will die
People will die--people will die
But go ahead sleep tight in your beds
Remember what the wise man said

Theres nothing to fear nothing to fear
Theres nothing to fear nothing to fear
Theres nothing to fear (but fear itself)
Theres nothing to fear (but fear itself)

And the temperatures starting to drop now
The temperatures starting to drop now
The temperatures starting to drop now . . .

Hey little girl wont you come this way
Wont you let me buy you candy or perhaps a chocolate shake
Or perhaps some nice cocaine or perhaps a little kiss
Or perhaps a ride in my big car
Perhaps a ride in my big car

Wont you make an old man happy
Wont you make an old man happy
Wont you let me show you paradise
(dont ask your mother for advice)

If they dont turn you into a junkie or a zombie on the street
If they dont turn you into a yo-cat or a grinning jesus freak
If they dont take away your brains or turn your body inside out
If they dont take away your passion with a color tv set
Theyll take away your heart and soul
Theyll take away your heart and soul
Theyll take away your heart and soul

Dont let them take away your heart and soul
But remember what the wise man said
Theres nothing to fear nothing to fear

SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear?

You may not share our intellect
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that
grow around you

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

The world's about to be destroyed
There's no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve

Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought that most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your
pregnant women

So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

(yeah)

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear?

(oh dear)

Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought that most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your
pregnant women

So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

BYE BYE LIFE

Bye bye life
Bye bye happiness
Hello loneliness
I think I'm gonna die
I think I'm gonna die
Bye bye love
bye bye sweet caress
Hello emptiness
I feel like I could die
Bye bye your life goodbye
Bye bye my life goodbye
There goes my baby with someone new
She sure looks happy
I sure am blue
He sure is blue

Never Stop
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFoyNLFyw0g

we have indignation
we have control
sweet as reality
we've keep... stop!

can't you see
don't you feel
it will never stop (never stop)

with no support
but strong conviction
another step ahead

we handle the game (x2)

well can't you see
well don't you feel
it will never stop

never stop (x2)

we have ignition
we have control
another step ahead
don't you feel

repeat our moves again
non stop
i'll show you at the end
to reach the top !

it will never stop !
never stop !

Gripped by fear
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_iXeiyQ0MY&NR=1

Recession repression regression
Shifts of scenery
And warning tremors of landslides
The sky comes down
The mountains move aside
Your kingdom slips out of your hands
chorus: Your tyranny
I was part of
Is now cracking
On every side
And your own life
Is in danger
Your empire
Is on fire
The staggering blows
Are shaking the walls
Nowhere, no place to hide this time
Flare up / Calm down
There is more sand than oil in your engine

Front 242 Controversy Between
http://www.last.fm/music/Front+242/+videos/+1-72P628IY7XY

The time has come
To stop out old affairs
To know our neighbours
To try to learn new ways

They've gone too far
Who do they think they are
To treat us like they do
We'll change the roles and soon

Now war's declared
My lord what fools we were
To trust our neughbours
To let them share our lives

Terminal State MP3...
http://www.last.fm/music/Front+242/+videos/+1-1XidlzfeAr0 fyi - the album sounds MUCH better. But you get the idea

What about the figures?
What about the facts?
What about the outbreaks?
What about ourselves?
What about the figures?
They don't stop climbing
What about the outbreak?
It keeps on spreading
See it gaining ground
Digging in the wound

We're in the doldrums

Quantizing is frightening
The facts are blinding
Time is dragging
The facts are blinding
We're a party in a suit
Now the worm is in the fruit
See it gaining ground
Digging in the wound

We're in the doldrums

You could make it just around the block
It's able to sneak in any lock
On your shoulder there, is it a pock?
Will the scales ever fall from your eyes?

What about the figures?
They don't stop climbing
What about the outbreak?
It keeps on spreading
Now the lines are converging
To the point of no return
See it gaining ground, amplifying the wound
A disaster (You name it!)
A disaster occurs
Under your very eyes
See it gaining ground
Digging in the wound

We're in the doldrums

The Doldrums...
The Outbreak...
Disaster... The Facts... The LINES

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('AlexdeLarge', 'H')ow about....Doom Despair and Agony on Me from the old Country Music Show called Hee Haw??

I changed the words a little...

Doom, despair, and agony on THEM!
Deep dark depression at Mother Nature's whim
If it weren't for bad luck they'd have no luck at all
Doom, despair, and agony on them!
