$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'S')hortage of fossil fuels

As the world is coming to a shortage of these three types of fossil fuels, other fossil fuels are being investigated, including bituminous sands and oil shale. The difficulty with using these fossil fuels is that they need expensive processing. Over the last 25 years, various predictions have been made about the supply of crude oil. According to these figures, oil should have run out by now. At the moment only as much oil that is being found is being used. As technology improves, new oil fields are discovered and small fields can be exploited more economically. People are also using energy more efficiently to heat their homes and factories, so using up less fuel. The oil companies are making sure that there is less waste in the production of oil from wells; Vapour is even being collected from delivery tankers when storage tanks are filled.

Base on this, all we can do is shut down this web site. Think about it for second, How many people are learning from it? None! However, by not having silly website, and technology which waste "energy" - should be ban. That's including your "television, dvd, and even your bathroom!

Go figure that out :)

Ps: White Supremacists are not the only type of racist we have in the world, we also have Peak Oil Supremacists too.
We are babies, we must cry.
Oil is Peaking, we must lie.

What is this document...somebody's term paper?? It didn't make any real sense.

Recovering 100% of a nonrenewable resource means that you are, well still out of that resource. It just took ya longer to do it.

well, i dont know. i do know one thing though. peak oil isnt going to happen this year. i think itll happen in the 2010-2020 time frame. i also think that it wont be anywhere near as bad as people think it will be.

it will mean the end of capitalism, sure, but there will still be an enormous amount of oil left to feed the world. out of those 80 million barrels a day we use, i imagine that a huge amount of that is totally wasted.

just look at how much crap there is for sale around you - an enormous amount of absolute crap.

i often think that peak oil people still totally confuse peak oil with no oil. why? even 10 years after peak oil, we'll still be pumping out an enormous amount of the stuff.

Your beliefs are not grounded in rational thought nor in empirical evidence.

Despite what you may believe, it won't happen. Neville Chamberlign didn't believe that Hitler was a threat. The empirical data suggests that 2007 is probably the likely year of the peak. 2004 has 9 mega projects, 2005 has 18 mega projects, 2006 has 5 and 2007 has 3 I believe. In 2003, there were no mega fields found.

As for the OP, shale oil and other alternative oils have a terrible EROEI. For fuck's sake, Alberta has seriously considered putting a nuclear power plant to fuel their oil sands projects. Anything that is that intensive to refine can only be a bit player in the grand scheme of things.

Man.. you cant be serious. That article was a joke. You fail to grasp many clear concepts here. You say there will be enough oil to feed people - do you really think Oil is going to be used in a rational way? It will more likely be used to fight wars then it will be used to feed people. What about the trucks needed to transport food? What about food prices increasing with energy costs? What will happen to the industry when the economy tanks due to higher oil costs? What we are doing now is not sustainable. We will never use this resource in a sustainable way as long as its nonrenewable. Peak Oil is real and its true, and this site is one of the few outlets to gain this information. As far as you compairing white supremsists to Peak Oilers.. I cant help but laugh. We try to tell people, even people close to us of this problem, but usualy get nowhere. Do white people try to bring others with different beliefts into their society - no. Because they have narrow minds. Peak Oilers do not have narrow minds to any extent. Peak Oilers are just regular people, like you and I, who have learned some information and hope to do something to help someone. To help themselves, their families, or even society as a whole. This is no radical racist group. This is a group who seek to better the earth and the ones around them.. trust me you are looking at this thing all wrong man, feel free to PM me I would love to become a friend and discuss some things with you and chat if you are interested. I think its important to get anyone who has enough brainpower to think of this issue, involved with this issue. I hope you will be able to see what problems this will cause and that this is no joke. And that this site is a valuable resouce that can better nearly everything around you. Please just look at it in a possitive way, thank you

I don't know who are worse--the Cassandras or the Pollyannas. Probably the ones who are saying everything's going to be all right, because that way if something does happen and no one's prepared, it will be REALLY bad. But if the Cassandras turn out to be wrong, the worse that can happen is the doomsayers look like idiots.

I have no doubt oil will peak soon, but I don't know when. As far as what that means, well, that's the hard part. Better to be prepared for the worst.

Yeah, but the manufacture and sale of that "crap" is someone elses livelihood (be it plastic toys, unneeded clothes and pretty much the entire tourism industry). Stop consuming and what will they do?? Become unemployed and further deprive the economy of activity. Multiply that by a factor of millions and you begin to se the magnitude of our problem. Our economic system is not PO-compliant.
