$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Aaron', 'T')he unvarnished, real... bonified... honest to Joe, truth.

What is causing peak oil?

Women.

:)

(Shields up Mr. Spock... the Gynaloids are bound to attack)

And here's how it goes...

I need wheels to get laid. Ever since Mr. Ford & company made the car for the common man, it's required, if a man expects to attract the attentions of a woman.

No Bus... No trains... No mass transit... period.

No ride = No Girl

End of story.

And not just any car either. No furry Eco-Friendly mini-cars allowed. They demand Hummers & Broncos & Corvettes & such.

What has been for millions of years a successful breeding strategy, has been turned on it's ear by the powerful and committed fairer sex, into a tool which drives consumption.

My own sex drive compells me to obey... who can deny it?

So next time you're at the pumps whining about the price ladies, remember.... it's your fault.

:)

I have always believed you to be credible, Aaron.

That is no longer a possibility.
The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

And yet another clever way to make a point bites the dust...

Guess I should keep my toungue out of my cheek & just say what I mean plainly.

I guess you missed my "Peak Oil is caused by Beer" thread...
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Many of us here, especially American men, would probably say that their personal experience mirrors the guy in the article. Mine certainly does, having owned numerous "beater" cars. When I bought my first new car, an Acura way back when, my dating opportunities increased exponentially. I couldn't believe it. It was like I went from being Don Knott to Brad Pitt. Well, almost. :)

That's a site I've read off and on for a long time and the guy, while not politically correct, is usually right on the money when it comes to many American women.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have met a wonderful woman (after I bought the Acura) who chose number two at the end of the article... Me.

In my dating experience she;s the only one I ever met who wasn't materialistic to the core.

They're out there but unfortunately for many of us "regular guys", they're few and far between.

Arconian, keep an open mind. The next woman you meet might be the 1 in 20 (my personal anecdotal ratio) that actually does care about you, and not what you have. Believe me, they're out there.

Good luck and keep your chin up buddy.

Aaron, I agree. And I will go one step further and postulate that the desire to mate has driven just about every destructive behavior perpetrated by men. Am I a Freudian?

Everything's geared to maximizing personal wealth. IE: Who cares if I cut down a forest if it makes me rich? Then when I'm rich I'll get all the supermodel chicks!!!

It makes perfect (dollars and) cents.

Yup, when I figured out the ramifications of Peak Oil; I decided on principle that I would not, repeat not, buy a car even after I graduated and got a job. Not the easiest thing, living in a suburb in a North American city.

Now I might just give into the temptation.....

Forgive an incorrigible cynic, but you yourself said you met her after you bought the Acura :). And did she really choose you over a multi-millionaire?

Ofcourse; most women and I would many men too are pretty much materialistic these days. That does not mean they cannot be good people.
