I was reading something this morning about LA raising terror alerts after receiving threats from a terrorist,,,Lots hope it is not terror related

LA is not a good place to be when you have blackouts the populations is much larger then NO and will FEMA show up who knows .

Remember too Solar flares were expecting to hit today as well. They can knock out transmission lines as well.

Yeah, my previous post was in jest. :-D

This is to be expected.

It's only another few years before the silde and less than a decade before the cliff event...if you believe in the Olduvai Theory.

But still, 8O .

Los Angeles, CA -- Scientists are currently tracking a very large flare that occurred on the Sun around 1:40 pm EDT yesterday. The current estimate of the size of the explosion makes it the the fifth largest ever observed.

Actually, I don't think I'ld want to be in LA with the power out. It's hot there. And doesn't the traffic suck without all the stoplights out?

And hey, aren't we invading iran in november? If November's taken, than I want December. Can I have December?

There are so many small quakes (small = less than 7 but can cause local damage) there and stuff like the Santa Ana winds messing things up, or, it hardly rains but when it does it really does, SoCal people are pretty used to dealing with the power being out, at least for a day or two or three. The "treat a dead turn signal intersection as a 4-way stop" drill gets practiced enough that it's generally handled pretty well. Also rolling blackouts have been a threat for several summers and sometimes have happened, so I doubt it's being taken all THAT seriously, not the end of the world.

CNN is doing wall-to-wall coverage. They don't know why the power went out. But it's some kind of mechanical failure, not a terrorist attack.

Power is coming back on in places, though some people are also reporting that transformers and such are blowing up as they try to re-energize the grid.

So when you fall off the gas cliff you'll have whole streets detonating as the pressure falls, raises then hits the pilot lights.
