My Father retired from the US Air Force in 1971, after having served as a Defensive Systems Officer (DSO) aboard the B-58 Hustler bomber

in the 1960's (literally had his finger on the button to unload nukes over Cuba during the Cold War--all he needed were the final codes), among various jobs and assignments in other aircraft throughout his career, including photo reconnaissance of East Germany and surrounding areas in the 1950's, and serving in Vietnam escorting other aircraft on their bombing missions.

Kinda funny that such a hawk would produce a son that's so green.

I am sorry to hear about your loss of your father. I hope you find some comfort in the fact that he reached a high age. It sounds that he lived an eventful life where he experienced a lot of things. I always get sentimental when I think about all the tings (and hardship) people only one or two generations older than us experienced. One of my uncles was among those stationed in Germany right after WWII ended. What they lived through, and how peaceful we have it after all.

I think it's your patriotic duty to visit the Grand Canyon, Peak Oiler! It also may be one of the only safe places to go, since there's not much forest to burn, and hurricanes can't seem to get there (yet...).

The Grand Canyon is an awesome place! I now can better understand why it's called one of the great natural wonders on this earth! I think I may go back next year! I want to view the GC from the North Rim. I got some amazing pics, but that's for another thread...when I have time. Lots to do around here before the first freeze of the season threatens the citrus and pineapple plants...

Meanwhile, here's the latest scorecard. I already need to update it, but I have been busy with home improvement projects, and life in general. If a new high price is set this year, then there will be a significant change in the standings...

I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation Peak oiler.We all need some down time.
We just had our eldest daughter up from the south for a week. It passed by way too fast but at least I got to argue politics with her over a bottle of wine a couple of nights with mother standing by to moderate if things got out of hand. (never did).

Having plummeted all the way to 21st place perhaps it is obvious why I have not played in the past. I am pretty terrible at guessing and I never denied it in any serious manner.
