What I think is not admissable in a court of law unless I testify to it or make statements about what I was thinking. The state, at least at this point, can not read minds.

From looking at police involved shootings, the policemen lawyer up right away. That should tell you something right there about making hasty statements to the PD post-shooting.

I hope you are not suggesting that self-defense, including the use of lethal force, is too liberal. The right to be secure within your house goes back a long way.

If is the biggest little word in the dictionary. Here in Florida, if you have a reasonable fear that your life or the life of another is in immediate danger then you are authorized to use deadly force. You cannot be sued for your action and you cannot be prosecuted. If you do not have that reasonable belief, then it is murder.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Loki', '
')I heard today on the radio that Oregon doesn't have a castle doctrine. First I've heard that, I thought we did. You have to think that the criminal will cause violence to you or yours, otherwise you have to retreat, even if in your own home.

Not that it really matters, I won't be retreating in my own home regardless of the law.

...and with an aid of lawyer you would not have much difficulty to prove in court that you *believed* that intruder was intending to commit violent acts.
