Tabloid about peak oil...

Unread postby AmericanEmpire » Sun 14 Aug 2005, 23:21:57

I saw a tabloid in grocery store today that's main headline was about oil running out. It said what the goverment doesn't want you to know is oil supplies will run out in the next 6 months and millions will starve and the economy will crash.

Us peak oilers are looked at like lunatics. A small segment of society. Our theories are out there with UFO's.

Then again maybe this tabloid article is just a way to get the masses to think we are a bunch of crackpots by putting peak oil theory into a tabloid.

Heh, reminds me of that scene from "Men in Black", where Kay is looking for tips by thumbing through a "Weekly World News" tabloid:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'B')est damn investigative reporting on the planet. But hey, go ahead, read the New York Times if you want. They get lucky sometimes.

Seriously, though, peak oil is a lot more mainstream than it was a year ago. It's becoming more "respectable", especially with the relentless rise of the price of oil.

The snowball is getting bigger. Just a while ago I read the oil analyst Kyle Cooper was saying the price rises were because of 'hype'. Now he's saying 'supply is not meeting demand' or something close to it. Don't know who he is or why I see his name in these articles in the MSM about oil prices, but whoever he is, he's sounding more somber. I don't think they're going to be blaming this on hurricanes and terrorists for too much longer.
